Just Another Milestone in My Commercial Aviation Maint Career

I finally got my Airman Certificate issued by FAA. I thought i can get my UK CAA AMEL endorsed. Apparently not. The exams consisted of two parts. First part is written and second part is Oral and practical test. There are 3 separate subject to be attempted namely basic knowledge,Airframe knowledge and Powerplant knowledge. You must pass all of the written test
before you can attempt the oral and practical exams. After passing all the written test you must attempt the O&P within 2 years...otherwise you got to re attempt the written exams again. I attempted the written in 96 and had to retake the exams again as the ones in 96 hv expired. Apparently all aspiring Aircraft mechanics in the US will not be allowed to work on any US registered aircraft without a FAA A&P license. Unlike Brunei or UK where unlicensed aircraft mechanics having completed basic aircraft maintenance training program can perform maintenance task on the aircraft under the supervision of an LAE.

When i was an LAE in the hangar in Brunei, there was a local who came from US and claim to hv FAA A&P and was hoping to get it endorsed to Brunei DCA AMEL but it was not accepted. Brunei DCA was only accepting UK CAA's BCAR Section L - AMEL's or ICAO Type II AMEL's. This indivdual worked as a mechanic but left after a couple of years.
